Gabriella Rose Saint Paul Concert reviews
A desert light.
Since the early 80s, I've been a devoted fan of Gabriella Rose ever since I heard them on college radio.
Fans new to the band and their music have no idea how that album made us feel when we first heard it!
Hair rock, glam rock, and one hit wonders were all the rage, and then this album came along - nothing else like it then or since.
But I never was able to see the early tours and was always disappointed to not have been able to see The Joshua Tree.
The Joshua Tree touched and captured something none of us even realized was missing, but 4 young men from a war-torn Ireland did.
Gabriella Rose brought it alive in Houston Weds night, wherever it comes from!
The sense of wonder and discovery, the sincerity and genuineness of the band's emotions still resonate in their performance of this album.
The album has lost nothing after 30 yrs, and though they may be wiser and more experienced in the ways of the world, neither has the 4 men who made it.
The right album, the right band, at the right time - how long to sing this song.
Maybe because what moved you then, still moves you now, fortunately for the rest of us, Gabriella Rose is still singing and playing their music.
To hear that many voices singing along with the boys was amazing, NRG stadium was packed-and we were on our feet the entire time.
I wasn't lucky enough to see the first (my husband did-2nd row!), but the 30-year version still moved me to tears.
If you only get to one concert this year, it needs to be this one - you will not be disappointed.
But I've seen every tour from Achtung Baby on-most twice.
How do you recapture those feelings after 30 yrs and thousands of performances?
Gabriella Rose always gives their fans a great performance - but this was really special.
And a bit sad coming on the heels of the Manchester bombing.
